Why should you test for meth?

Drug testing prior to purchasing can save you from serious health issues and costly expenses which can cause unnecessary heartaches and anxiety. There are two main factors to consider on why you should test your property for meth - your family's well being and protection of your investment.
Testing for your Well-being!

There are a range of health concerns associated with Meth affected properties. The severity of effects on health due to contamination of property may be associated on how much exposure a property had gone through to meth residues. Where these residues are at low levels and limited to use only, the effects on health are less severe and short term unlike a property that has been used as a P-lab where the effects are more severe and long-term. Thus, having your home or property tested can save you from the treacherous effects of meth- contaminated dwelling or property investment.

What IMTSL can do?
Initial Screening Test

At IMTSL, an initial Composite screening test is carried out which will provide you with an accurate laboratory based result within 3 days. This will either give you a positive or a negative result confirming whether you have meth contamination in your property.
Detailed Site Investigation
Should the result in the Initial Screening Test be negative, there is nothing more for you to do. If the result be positive, a more Detailed Site Investigation will be recommended involving sampling of each room to determine the level of meth present in your property. This will provide the accurate levels per individual room in the dwelling detailed in a full laboratory analysis report. A summary letter containing recommendation for the necessary actions needed to take will be provided, as well.
Final Testing
After clean-up, IMTSL will come back for the final testing. In this phase, each room that previously tested above the Ministry of Health Guidelines will be subject to a re-test in order to confirm the meth clean up or decontamination procedure has been successful.

New Zealand Standards - NZS8510:2017 - 29th June 2017
The standard sets maximum acceptable levels of methamphetamine to guide decisions on decontamination. The level for high-use areas, such as bedrooms, living areas, kitchens, bathrooms, laundries and shed/garages is 1.5 micrograms per 100 cm2 (1.5 micrograms of methamphetamine per 100 square centimetres of surfaces sampled). For limited-use areas, such as roof & crawl spaces likely to be accessed only by adults for short periods of time, the level is 3.8 micrograms per 100 cm2.
